Rumin Farhana, Member of Parliament for Brahmanbaria-2, has alleged that some local-level leaders and activists of the BNP are engaging in “case business” (profiteering from lawsuits). She stated that she has already spoken about this matter in Parliament and will inform the relevant government authorities.

She made these remarks on Friday (June 26) afternoon in response to journalists’ questions after inspecting the progress of a road construction project in Ghagharajuri village, Sarail Upazila, Brahmanbaria.

Rumin Farhana said, “The BNP has now introduced a ‘show arrest’ culture. As soon as someone gets bail in one case, another new case is filed against them. In various areas, local BNP activists are using cases as a tool for business.”

She further added, “I have raised this issue in Parliament and will also inform the government. I will draw the attention of the Home Minister. It must be remembered that nothing goes unnoticed, and no crime goes unpunished. Those who are doing these things today will also have to face accountability one day.”

The Member of Parliament also expressed concern over the country’s current law and order situation. She stated, “Bangladesh’s current law and order situation has not been this fragile in the recent past. If there is no visible improvement in these two sectors—economy and law and order—the situation could become extremely difficult for the government.”
